Sitting here this evening, listening to the wind howl past the window, lets me know that fall is really here! Make sure you are prepared for the rain, wind, and maybe even snow (already a snow storm watch in the Cascades!) with a few simple tasks!
1. Make sure those branches are trimmed! Every year on the news, there are stories of fallen branches (and usually trees too!) causing hundreds of dollars, if not more, of damage to property. Take a look around your property and make sure that you don't have tree branches scraping off your roof tiles, precariously hanging over your car by a thread, or dead and ready to drop at the first real storm. Also keep in mind that as it gets wetter, some trees may show signs that they will be falling during a windstorm: check around the root base, look for signs of lifting soil, soft spots that may indicate a hole, or anything else unusual around the tree. This could save your car, house, or even a life.
2. Clean your gutters and your street drains. Clogged pipes and drains can lead to flooding later on when it suddenly downpours, and even if it doesn't damage your house, it can definitely have some nasty effects on your landscaping!
3. Stock up now. Even if it doesn't snow very often, it does freeze. Beat the rush for salt and snow supplies by stocking up now!
4. Lastly, make sure your plants and lawn are ready to take on the colder months by prepping with the right fertilizer, pruning before the freeze, and planting those spring bulbs and trees.
As always, we can help you with these tasks, all you have to do is give us a call!
